Bengaluru: Aug 18 2013: A lower court in Bengaluru, on Saturday issued summons against actress-turned-politician Shruthi and her second husband Chandrachud, to appear before it on August 23 in connection with the case filed by Manjula, the first wife of Chandrachud.
The III ACMM court passed the orders while issuing emergent notices to both the actress and her second husband. Manjula, who is teacher, is also fighting a case before the family court against the second marriage of Shruthi with her husband, terming it as illegal.
She had recently filed a case before the ACMM court, seeking monthly maintenance of Rs 35,000, till her plea before the family court is settled. She has also sought directions against actress Shruthi, to not create any hurdles between her and her husband.
It is alleged in the case before the Magistrate court, that the actress was fuelling animosity between a legally wedded couple. ChandracÂhud has stopped visiting Manjula and their daughter ever since the case was filed before family court.
The magistrate court which took up the case, has asked the actress and Chandrachud to appear before the court on August 23. Chandrachud has recently submitted to the family court in writing his consent to annul his second marriage.
The controversy broke out barely a month after Shruthiâs second marriage with Chandrachud at a private function. Majula had approached the family court alleging that the filmmaker has not divorced her before marrying Shruthi, which is illegal.
Manjulaâs petition before the family court states that though she had separated from her husband over six years ago, they were not legally divorced. Shruthi had divorced her first husband, director-tuned-actor Mahender, in 2012 after being married for 11 years.
